Unboxing Blackbox is an academic podcast created by researchers working in various fields of
the social sciences and is intended for listeners interested in complex explanations of what is
happening in Bulgaria and around the world – generally speaking, the idea is for the podcast to be
useful to those who would like to hear analyzes of the overt and hidden connections between
politics, science and society. It discusses topics of interest to the members of the production team
through the prism of the sciences they represent, by “unpacking the “black boxes” of specific case studies to the general public, thereby providing clarity on the essential processes within and
about the cases in question. This podcast is carried out with the support of the EC and is part of
the implementation of a project for the establishment of a “Jean Monnet” Centre of Excellence at
“Paisii Hilendarski” University of Plovdiv. The podcast team consists of six people: Prof. Dr.
Ivan Tchalakov, Associate Professor Dr. Tihomir Mitev, Associate Professor Dr. Irina Popravko,
Dr. Dimitar Panchev, PhD student Bilyana Mileva and Petar Parapanov. Unboxing Blackbox
launched on March 24, 2023, and currently has over 20 published episodes.
