Assoc. Prof. Dzambov presented a lecture on the topic: “The role of GIS in researching the
impact of the urban environment on human health”, which covered:
Factors of the urban environment shaping individual and collective health (air pollution, noise
pollution, green and blue spaces, elements of the built environment) – theoretical framework and
empirical data from international and Bulgarian studies;
Application of geographic information systems, GPS-tracking and machine learning algorithms
in the modeling of exposure to risk and protective factors for health;
Opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in developing evidence-based recommendations
for urban planning with population health needs in mind.
